My existing surge protector had a very weak HD single for some reason, but it was 10 years old, and it's possible that this TV was on the last and longest cable run in the house. I don't have the buzzing problem others have mention, and I have a number of items plugged into the unit, 52" TV, Receiver, DVD Player, playstation, and sub. Purchased this unit over a $25 unit, and it works fine, weak single problem resolved, One item to note it did come with a high end RGB6 Coaxial cable, 3 feet, which runs around $8-10 if purchased, It may have come with a phone line too, but I can't remember. SO you factor in the cable and the fact that it might deliver 10% of what it promise, it's not a bad unit. I have a UPS pluged into another outlet on the same circuit, powering my Gigabyte switch, Homer server, wireless access point, and media player, all items are located in a built in. Oh, and the blue light is a bit annoying, I have the surger mounted to the back wall of my bult in, and had to arrnage my items to cover the light to the serge protector, its blinding.
I bought this becuase of the hype.Clean power equals better picture and sound. Sales guys say it does make a difference--real world answer for me at least is that I could not differentiate between my cheapie $15 surge protector and this Monster Cable PowerCenter. I dont think I would buy this again. Probably go with a cheaper version next time.
It seems like a nice product, but when I plug it in, there is a high pitched buzzing noise. It is quite loud. Will be sending it back and hopefully a replacement will perform better.
I do not see any but really have not experienced that before. The pros: Color coded and labeled outlets, plenty of plug spots, high rated joule protectionThe cons: The blue power light is pretty bright (like a night light), You can't plug in "power pack" plugsOne complaint to "Cable Companies" is they say you can't run the cable into a surge protector because it interferes with the updates and communication between their computer and the box. Like 40% cheaper.
I can't tell the difference with some of them but I figured with a new plasma, why take the chance of ruining a $2k item. figured I would get something rated for more joule surge protection.
To me, a power strip is a power strip. It was much cheaper getting it from here than your local stores.
I like the way they have everything pre-labeled so you know which cord is which. That is probably what really sold me on this one.
One thing the company says is it regulates power so there is no flicker on the TV. So I do not care about their box so I just run everything going "out" of the box through the surge protector instead of going into it.
I bought this on Amazon for 1/3 the MSRP but the improvement in picture and sound after moving all my home entertainment plugs from a surge protector to this was so great to be worth full price or more. I am very happy with this picture. I now feel like I don't need to tweak it anymore.
